Commonwealth Scholarship 2026: Fully-Funded Masters and PhD for Developing Country Citizens

The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK funds talented individuals from Commonwealth countries to gain skills for sustainable development. The CSC offers the Commonwealth Shared Scholarship for Masters degrees and the Commonwealth PhD Scholarship.

What Is Covered

Scholarships cover: approved tuition fees; economy class return airfare; monthly stipend; arrival allowance; and a warm clothing allowance. Shared Scholarships are for students from low- and middle-income Commonwealth countries who could not otherwise afford to study in the UK.

Eligible Countries

Most African Commonwealth nations, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Papua New Guinea, Pacific Island states, and several Caribbean nations qualify. Citizens of Australia, Canada, and New Zealand are not eligible for Shared Scholarships.

How to Apply

Applications must be submitted through the applicant's national nominating agency — typically the education or foreign affairs ministry. Most agencies open applications between August and October 2026.
